Winter slowly loosens its grip, the racing itch gets worse, and suddenly it’s all about cobbles, crosswinds, the Poggio, and that one sector that always arrives just a little too early.
On Saturday 28 February 2026, the spring campaign kicks off with Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. From that moment on, weekends are sacred: first the Flemish Opening Weekend, then the Italian finesse of Strade and Milan–San Remo, followed by the Flemish high mass on the road to the Tour of Flanders, and finally the Ardennes Classics to close the chapter. Spring Classics 2026: why is this season so addictive?
Because spring is everything that makes cycling beautiful, compressed into eight weeks: nerves, positioning, improvisation, mud in the ditch, champagne on the podium. In Flanders, the strongest doesn’t always win—but the smartest and the toughest often do. In San Remo, the winner is usually the one who can wait the longest. And in the Ardennes, the victor is the rider who can accelerate one more time when everyone thinks it’s done.
And yes: this year the big names will circle each other again. Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogačar, Wout van Aert, Remco Evenepoel—and all the other top guns who plot their spring like a chess match. Who peaks when? Who dares to gamble? Who has the team to bend the race to their will?
